Schouten & Nelissen is a rising star when it comes to making companies stronger. The trailblazing training and consultancy firm is constantly in need of new content, ranging from interviews with customers and experts to practical product-related texts, editing and translations.
To supply these texts, Schouten & Nelissen Content Marketing Manager Joyce Hardholt used to depend on an ever-changing group of freelance copywriters. She would approach the writers individually whenever she needed new content. ‘It would always be one-off projects that we were looking to carry out’, explains Hardholt. ‘Sometimes it would be hard to find a writer. You would search for a freelancer and then wait for their response, hoping they would have time for you. By the time the work even started, days or even weeks could have already gone by. Our desire was to take a more structured approach.’

Hardholt first got in touch with Contentoo about one and a half years ago. The proposition immediately appealed to her. ‘At that time, one of the main priorities for us was how hassle-free Contentoo made things. They had a freelance pool of 120 writers at their disposal. No matter what the project was, Contentoo could promise to find us a very good writer.’
Quality and convenience
After a one-month trial, Hardholt was so impressed that she started a long-term partnership with Contentoo. There are two main things that contributed to her decision: ‘The quality assurance is very important to me. Contentoo assesses all its writers, so they can be sure that they will deliver the necessary quality. In addition to that, it is very convenient for us to have a single point of contact. There is always someone available to accept our assignments, and then we just have to deal with one invoice afterwards.’
Finding a writer in one day
Schouten & Nelissen has now been working for Contentoo for one and a half years. Hardholt uses the Contentoo platform to work with a small fixed group of freelancers. Contentoo has selected a number of copywriters who are a perfect match for the publishing format and wishes of Schouten & Nelissen. Hardholt says, ‘After that, the entire process runs really smoothly. You just have to fire off an assignment on the Contentoo platform, and one of the freelancers will accept it within a few hours. If that doesn’t happen, then our account manager at Contentoo steps in. They make sure that there is always an available writer as quickly as possible. 'Now, we can always get a project going within just one day. In the past, it used to take us up to a week, with all the e-mail back and forth’.
For Hardholt, Contentoo means less busy-work and more time to focus on the strategic level. ‘Sometimes, I still do the writing myself. Working with Contentoo gives me a chance to cherry-pick the topics I like, so I can write a nice piece of my own.’
